Employer Tips
  • When you are thinking of employing somebody, make a list of all the duties you intend that person to do.
  • Think about your busy and quiet times. Do you need someone full-time or part-time or do you need the flexibility of a casual employee?
  • Who will be training this person about your business and the duties involved?
  • Make sure you have available space for a new employee.
  • Employing people with a disability – The majority of employers who have employed someone with a disability say they would be happy to continue doing so. Like all employees, people with a disability can bring a range of skills, talents and abilities to the workplace.
  • Employing Indigenous Australians – WDEA have a history of supporting our multicultural community and in turn have had great success introducing employers to the benefits of a multicultural workforce. WDEA is very open to speaking to you about recent success stories, placing both Indigenous and Sudanese jobseekers into many local workplaces.
  • Employing parents returning to the workforce - Many parents returning to the workforce seek part-time work, which may suit your business needs. Many of these people have already acquired great skills and experience. Call WDEA and ask about our Parents Returning to Work program.
