Apprenticeships and Traineeships

Australian Apprenticeships, which include all apprenticeships and traineeships, combine time at work with specialised training. In this way, practical, on-the-job training is combined with structured learning.

Australian Apprenticeships can be full-time, part-time and school-based.

Graduates receive a nationally recognised qualification together with valuable work experience.

Australian Apprenticeships are available to anyone of working age, regardless of whether they hold a secondary school certification or other qualification. You may be a school leaver or re-entering the workforce or an adult wishing to change careers.

Australian Apprenticeships are available for more than 500 occupations and at a variety of qualification levels. They may be based in traditional trades, or in one of the emerging careers we’re seeing arise in most sectors of business and industry.

WDEA has an Australian Apprenticeship Centre at the following locations in western Victoria:

  • Warrnambool
  • Portland
  • Hamilton
  • Colac.

We are contracted by the Australian government to provide one-stop shops for those seeking to hire Australian Apprentices or to take up an Australian Apprenticeship as a career path.
